Georgia County Turns to CH2M HILL to Find Owed Funds
DENVER, April 13, 2010 — At a time when governments at all levels seek to maximize revenue in the face of an unprecedented national economic downturn, Gwinnett County is the latest local government in Georgia turning to CH2M HILL to identify lost and uncollected fees and taxes.
Through this new revenue enhancement program, CH2M HILL will help the Atlanta suburb, one of America’s fastest-growing counties for the past 20 years, identify businesses that owe taxes and fees such as business occupation taxes, cell tower leases, alcohol excise taxes, E-911 fees and cable television franchise fees. Under the terms of the one-year, performance-based contract, CH2M HILL is paid a percentage of the first-year taxes it identifies and the county collects. In return for that one-time payment, Gwinnett will collect the full amount of that revenue in ensuing years. “In today’s economy, counties and cities are under pressure to maintain service levels for their residents without having to raise taxes or increase fees,” says Elisa M. Speranza, president of CH2M HILL’s Operations & Maintenance Business Group. “Our revenue enhancement practice helps communities like Gwinnett discover and recover the monies they need to provide its citizens with the best possible services.” CH2M HILL has ongoing revenue enhancement partnerships with the cities of Sandy Springs, Johns Creek and Atlanta. Headquartered in Denver, Colo., employee-owned CH2M HILL is a global leader in consulting, design, design-build, operations and program management for government, civil, industrial and energy clients.
