June 12, 2008—The Town of Windsor, Colo., suffered significant property damage on May 22 when a tornado tore through numerous commercial, industrial and residential areas.
As the Town’s building department service provider, SAFEbuilt Inc. has created a recovery and repair fund to assist families in need, seeding the fund with a company contribution of $10,000. CH2M HILL OMI has joined SAFEbuilt’s efforts and contributed $5,000 to the fund as well.
FEMA estimates that 850 homes have sustained damage of some kind, with 78 destroyed and
268 suffering major structural damage. In addition, SAFEbuilt determined through its own field
work that 40 commercial buildings have sustained damage ranging from minor to catastrophic.
All funds collected will be forwarded to needy families through established elief programs in order to ensure a fair distribution of monies to those who need it the most.
SAFEbuilt serves as a subcontractor providing building plan review, building inspection, and permit services on several CH2M HILL OMI projects.
